Prior to being called to the bar in 2004, Kelum was an active member of the Sri Lanka Law College Law Students Sinhala Union and assumed the prestigious post of President of the said union in 2003. He was also the chief architect behind the publication of the “Nimsiluwa” magazine in 2003, which was published by the Sri Lanka Law College Law Students Sinhala Union.
After having been called to the bar, Kelum soon thereafter joined the Attorney General’s Department in 2004 as a Non Summary Counsel and over a period of three years, he gained tremendous exposure in Criminal Law practice in diverse areas, across the length and breadth of the Courts of Law in the Country.
Kelum has subsequently worked in the Chambers of Mr. Upul Jayasuriya, President’s Counsel and appeared together with several other eminent Counsel in numerous landmark cases. Kelum has cultivated a specialized multifaceted practice in Criminal Law and is a regular practitioner in both the original and appellate Courts.
