After having completed his period of apprenticeship at the Attorney-General’s Department, Laknath was called to the bar in 2011. He thereafter had the opportunity of working in the Chambers of Mr. S. L. Gunasekara for a period of two years, where he gained invaluable experience and exposure in diverse areas of Law. He has since thereafter worked in the Chambers of Ms. Maureen Seneviratne, President’s Counsel, Mr. Upul Jayasuriya, President’s Counsel and Mr. S.N. Vijithsingh, with whom he has appeared as Junior Counsel in several landmark cases such as Punchiappuihamy Vs Dingiribanda.
Laknath specializes in the areas of Civil Litigation such as Land Law, Public and Administrative Law, Commercial Law and is equipped with extensive knowledge and experience in drafting agreements and the drafting of applications and appeals of myriad nature in both the Original Courts and Appellate Courts.
Laknath obtained his LLB degree (Second Class Upper Division Honours) from the University of London and thereafter obtained his Masters in Law (Commercial Law) from the University College London (Merit Honours).
